The third annual event was attended by 33 of the 51 female Oscar nominees: “the women in the room exemplify everything that’s right about this business,” said Langley. The super chic gathering took place at von Furstenberg’s canyon home in Beverly Hills. Guests including Jennifer Jason Leigh, Marisa Tomei, Malin Akerman and Ellen Burstyn as well as industry powerhouses Sherry Lansing, Cherly Boone Isaacs, Dawn Hudson and Sue Kroll were greeted by von Furstenberg at the front door before being ushered into the designer’s indoor/outdoor living space.
Opting for a more casual and intimate vibe (no assigned seating), ladies were encouraged to get a plate of food and make themselves at homeタヤwhether cozied up on one of the living room sofas by the fireplace or perched on oversized Moroccan floor pillows in the yard. A colorful assortment of salads (nicoise with green beans and quail eggs; heirloom beets and avocado; duck confit with asian pears; and lobster quinoa) as well as a raw bar, black cod and eggs benedict were all on the menu.
Langley thanked von Furstenberg for opening up her beautiful, sunlit home and for giving everyone the chance to “pretend we’re in the South of France” for an afternoon amidst Oscar weekタヤadding that, “Diane really does epitomize the words icon, pioneer, trailblazer.”
