Hart to Hart stars recall their first meeting

Long before Robert Wagner donned his finest silk suit and Stefanie Powers teased her hair up to astronomical heights, the duo at the center of the 80s mystery series Hart to Hart met under very different circumstances.

EW’s special Hart to Hart correspondents Adam Scott and Amy Poehler sat down with Wagner and Powers, who shared the story of their first meeting which came long before they starred in the 1979-1984 series (plus eight TV movies!) while on the set of EW’s fourth annual Reunions Issue. Scott and Poehler who recreated the show’s opening credits for Scott’s Adult Swim special The Greatest Event in Television History, which airs its third episode on November 7 got the serendipitous scoop from the Hart to Hart pair, and even managed to score an invite to dinner.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine gets full season

Fox network on Friday picked up the Andy Samberg freshman police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a full season bringing the total order for the rookie series to 22 episodes.

Andy Samberg’s Fox comedy is getting a full season – and another big boost. Fox has picked up another nine episodes of Tuesday comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Brooklyn has also scored TV’s biggest promotional opportunity: a post-Super Bowl slot.

Brooklyn will join New Girl in a one-hour special comedy block airing after the big game. (New Girl was previously announced, and is still currently expected to air first.) “It’s exciting to see that both critics and fans love Brooklyn Nine-Nine as much as we do,” said Fox entertainment chairman Reilly. “With Andy and Andre out in front of this incredible ensemble, it feels like this show is going to be around for a long time.”

Brooklyn has been struggling in the ratings, yet media insiders expected Fox to give the show a full season. The show was the best-reviewed new fall comedy and the network believes in the series. Plus, the network’s options are limited given that fellow freshman Dads and sophomore show The Mindy Project are really struggling too – you can’t scuttle everything.

Yet adding the post-Bowl move is a surprise and could be seen as a Hail Mary pass. Averaging only 5.2 million viewers and a 2.3 rating this season including DVR, Brooklyn is almost certainly the lowest-rated show to ever receive such an honor. Yet the positioning does make sense in terms of the show’s frat-friendly and male-skewing humor.

In fact, you could argue that Fox’s best post-Bowl option for really grabbing the interest of sports fans would be pairing Brooklyn Nine-Nine with Dads, instead of New Girl. Or not to use comedies at all and instead double down on the network’s most successful new fall drama in years – Sleepy Hollow. Or even to use the post-Bowl slot to launch the extremely guy-friendly robot cop drama Almost Human.

The animated series, which premieres in fall 2014 with a one-hour special on the Disney Channel then segues into a series on Disney XD, takes place roughly 14 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, a time in which the Emperor’s rule is secure and the Empire is seeking to expand its power to Outer Rim territories. At the Lucasfilm panel, exec producer Dave Filoni revealed that the Inquisitor is tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights. Star Wars Rebels is an upcoming CGI animated series that will be produced by Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm Animation.
The Empire’s propaganda machine is in full effect. Six pieces of Star Wars Rebels “patriotic art” were sent to 2,500 people around the globe and select media outlets, promoting the noble intentions and work of the Empire. These bold, graphic-style cards, urging galactic citizens to accept and even join the Empire, reflect the political landscape of the upcoming animated series.

It wouldn’t be a farewell season of How I Met Your Mother without one more appearance from James Van Der Beek.

EW has confirmed that Van Der Beek, who has appeared twice on the program as Robin’s first boyfriend Simon, is poised to return to the series for an episode titled “Bedtime Stories. ”

As fans recall, Van Der Beek’s appearances have both happened in episodes centered around Robin’s teen idol alter ego Robin Sparkles(/Daggers). And while we have our fingers crossed for another appearance from the beloved singing sensation, further details on the ep were not immediately provided.

The episode, which will be the 12th of the current season, is written by creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom that originally ran on CBS from September 19, 2005 to March 31, 2014. The series follows the main character, Ted Mosby, and his group of friends in Manhattan.

Full-season for Robin Williams: CBS announced that it has picked up a full season of its three new freshman comedies, The Crazy Ones, The Millers and Mom.

Robin Williams just earned a full-season order: CBS announced that it has picked up a full season of its three new freshman comedies, The Crazy Ones, The Millers and Mom.

CBS points out that The Crazy Ones, starring Williams, is this season’s No. 1 new comedy in viewers (13. 7 million), adults 18-49 (3. 6 rating/10 share) and adults 25-54 (4. 8/12). It also wins its Thursday time period in viewers.

The Millers ranks as the number two comedy in viewers (12. 4 million), adults 18-49 (3. 2/09) and adults 25-54 (4. 3/11). Last night, it retained 97 percent of its premiere rating in adults 18-49, 98 percent in adults 25-54 and 93 percent of its premiere audience. Mom is the third most watched new comedy, averaging 7. 98 million viewers, and earning a 2. 6/06 in adults 18-49 and a 3. 2/07 in adults 25-54.

Once Upon a Time with Emma and Hook

Capt. Swan fans, prepare to squeal with delight. That’s Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and they’re smooching on Once Upon a Time.

I kind of knew at some point it was coming, says Morrison of the big kiss, which happens in Once Upon a Time Hook-centric Oct. 27 episode – I knew from all the way back, when they brought both Michael Raymond-James and Colin O’Donoghue on, that it was always the intention to create some sort of love triangle with the two of them and Emma having a very legitimate pull between those two men.
So I kind of was anticipating something coming – I just wasn’t sure what and I wasn’t sure how, Morrison continues. So I definitely thought that it was an excellent moment for them to have an unexpected kiss.
Adds O’Donoghue: I think there was always something there between the characters. So it’s definitely something that was in the background, and I’m sure it’s something some of the fans have wanted to see since my first episode.

But what leads up to this moment? And when they do kiss, does Emma still think that Neal (Raymond-James) is dead? That info can be found in this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly. Amandla Stenberg Hunger Games actress appearing on Sleepy Hollow

Amandla Stenberg who played the doe-eyed little one who stole Katniss’ heart in the first Hunger Games movie franchise is coming to Fox’s Sleepy Hollow.

Amandla Stenberg Hunger Games actress appearing on Sleepy Hollow. She will play the daughter of Orlando Jones’ Capt. Frank Irving, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the casting. She will first appear as the character, named Macey, in the Nov. 25 episode.

Sleepy Hollow which remains one fall TV’s biggest rating successes (and even more so when you factor in DVR) is currently on a three-week break. When it returns, Fringe alum John Noble will join the fun in a major, recurring role. A trailer for the show’s next few episodes aired after Monday’s new hour, and you can watch that here.

George Eads who took a break from playing Nick Stokes in August after a reported off-camera dispute will return for episode 9 that will air Nov. 20th.

George Eads is back in Sin City, baby! The actor, who took a break from playing Nick Stokes in August after a reported off-camera dispute, is now slated to return for episode 9 that will tentatively air Nov. 20.

Eads was last seen on the series during episode 3, which aired Oct. 9. His absence from the show will not be addressed.

Eads is one of the few original cast members left on the CBS drama.

Want to give your kids a horror-film education but think they’re just a little too young to watch Drew Barrymore get dismembered? Here’s a simple solution: Just plop them in front of Toy Story of Terror, a sitcom-length special that debuts on network TV tonight.

Older fans are, of course, welcome to enjoy the show as well like any Pixar property, it’s designed for viewers of all ages. (Anyone 20ish or older will be especially amused by a new character called Combat Carl, voiced with perfect action-hero bravado by Rocky and Arrested Development star Carl Weathers.) But younger viewers stand to gain the most, since TSoT isn’t just a short featuring some of the studio’s most beloved characters; it’s a genuinely spooky half-hour that doubles as a clever, concise deconstruction of horror as a genre.

Toy Story of Terror opens with the denizens of Bonnie’s toy box Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest, all played by the original film series’ big-name voice actors huddling together as they watch an old-fashioned black-and-white vampire movie. Their viewing session is frequently punctuated by commentary from Mr. Pricklepants, a lederhosen-clad stuffed hedgehog who speaks with Timothy Dalton’s highfalutin diction.

NBC cancels two shows, plans Community return

Two new NBC shows ‘Welcome to the Family’ and ‘Ironside’ were cancelled Friday as part of a dramatic shakeup of the NBC’s fall lineup.

Wednesday night cop drama Ironside will air its last episode next week; Thursday night sitcom Welcome to the Family is gone right away. NBC will use a mixture of Dateline episodes and specials to fill the Ironside hole for the remainder of the year. Starting Jan. 8, Chicago Fire spin-off Chicago P.D. will take the 10 p.m. slot. On Thursdays, NBC will likewise use a rotating mix of content for the 8:30 p.m. slot for the rest of the year, including extra episodes of Parks and Recreation, The Voice (both live and an encore) and its The Sound of Music Live telecast. Fan favorite Community will return for its fifth season on Jan. 2.
Of these two changes, the big issue is Thursdays. The Wednesday 10 p.m. hole is one hour at the end of one night. NBC’s Thursday lineup is in such a crisis that even the guys at Chicago Fire wouldn’t know how to put it out. Last night’s three-hour block averaged only a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49, just barely edging out The CW overall. NBC’s two-hour once-signature comedy block has fallen 17 percent since last year, and 57 percent since 2009.

Dumping Welcome to the Family will certainly help. The sitcom about two families who come together because of their teenage kids’ unplanned pregnancy has averaged only 2.7 million viewers and a 1.0 rating. Yet the rest of the lineup isn’t doing much better: Parks and Recreation is averaging only a 1.6 so far, Sean Saves the World is at a 1.2 and The Michael J. Fox Show has a 2.3, a number inflated by its strong premiere week. The Michael J. Fox Show was also given a pre-pilot full-season commitment in order for the network to land the show.
